Job Summary: The manufacturing process engineer serves as a technical reference to the maintenance team and is the main technical link between plant and corporate engineering. This position is also responsible for new product launches and leading problem-solving activities for the facility.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and safety while ensuring regulatory requirements are met in all process engineering activities.
- Design and implement process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time and improve product quality.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, minimize waste and increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of new processes, technologies, and equipment including creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Monitor and analyze process data, identifying trends and proposing solutions for process improvement continuously.
- Perform process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to achieve operational excellence and meet production targets.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Monitor and analyze process performance metrics, such as cycle time, yield and scrap rate and develop strategies to meet or exceed targets.
- Identify and implement process control measures, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques, to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead process validation activities, including protocol development, execution, and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
- All other duties assigned and necessary to perform the job.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field, preferred or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience, required.
- Mechanical or electrical engineer with at least 5 years of experience, preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, reliability best practices, Six Sigma methodologies and statistical analysis, preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues, preferred.
- Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949, preferred.
- Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards, preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, preferred.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred.
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
