Job Summary:

The Mechanical Technician assists plant operations in running efficiently with minimal downtime.


Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of electrical and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, gas, acid, water, coolant systems, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Completes or updates all maintenance related documentation according to sites document control procedure: work orders, reports, requisitions, PM tasks, time cards, maintenance manuals, and surveys
  • Condition monitoring- locates sources of problems by observing devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments, initiate corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions- selects logical approach to “troubleshooting”, repair problems, and write detailed explanation on cause of malfunction
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
  • Fabricates repair parts as necessary

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required with over 7 years of Industrial Maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting or a Two- year Industrial Maintenance degree with 5 years or more Industrial Maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is highly preferred
  • Equipment maintenance, technical understanding, deals with uncertainty, safety, power tools, attention to detail, flexibility, supervision, job knowledge, productivity
  • General hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, and rigging
  • Operate power truck, man-lift, other mobile equipment and cranes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, charts and sketches
  • Precision alignment, cutting, welding, brazing, heating and soldering are preferred
  • Maintenance systems familiarity - computerized maintenance management system, maintenance schedule, maintenance inventory
  • Preventive Maintenance familiarity - condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, proactive maintenance
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling support tasks
  • Root cause analysis, possess good mechanical and / or electrical experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays
