Virtual Reality Training in EHS

Training people to identify and avoid worksite risks is challenging, but digital technology can help. Our team at Neuf-Brisach turned to Constellium's 2021 Digital Innovation Fund to develop a training application, working with a specialized agency to create a virtual Constellium plant. Employees wearing VR headsets try to identify and avoid major risks in various situations, including mobile equipment, man-machine interface, and chemicals. 

Neuf-Brisach’s EHS Manager, Christian Sauvage, says, "It is a new and more attractive way of training people in safety, and a lot more interactive than showing standard training videos." At C-TEC, Innovation Engineer François Martinet envisions more applications for VR technology. “For example, we recently launched a new project to raise awareness of scrap re-melting risks associated with furnace loading. It is currently in development with the molten metal safety network and has a lot of potential.”
